Teil 2: Das Setup
Das Aufrufen des Setup
Das Setup kann bei fast allen Rechnern während des Speicherhochzählens geladen werden. Dies wird meist am unteren Bildschirmrand angezeigt. Ist die Möglichkeit zu kurz und werden mehrere Veränderungen geplant, so sollte das Speicherhochzählen im Setup verlängert werden.
Der Setup Aufruf erfolgt je nach Bios mit: der Taste Entf. oder Del, gleichzeitigem Drücken von Strg+Alt+Esc oder Strg+Alt+Del oder Strg+Alt+S.
Es gibt jedoch auch ältere Rechner, bei denen eine Setup-Diskette erforderlich ist.
Wenn alles nicht geht, hilft das Abziehen des Tastatursteckers. Es erscheint dann, wenn Error Handling auf All Errors im Setup eingestellt ist, eine Fehlermeldung mit den Hinweis: "Mit F1 zum Setup" oder aber der Hinweis: "Setup Diskette einlegen".

Vermeidbare Fehler im Umgang mit Datenträgern
Denken Sie immer daran, dass nur im geparkten Zustand, wenn der Rechner abgeschaltet ist, sich die Plattenköpfe in einer sicheren Position befinden. Zu allen anderen Zeiten, schweben sie auf einem dünnen Luftpolster über den Plattenoberflächen.
Was sie vermeiden sollten:
Bei dem Einbau der Festplatten: nur "Metalloberfläche nach oben, Elektronik nach unten" oder rechtwinkelig auf den Seiten stehend. Die Rückenlage und vor allem das Stellen auf der Kopf- oder Fußfläche sollte man unbedingt vermeide.
Bei Notebooks und Desktopgehäusen: sollte man daran denken, dass beim seitlichem oder hochkant aufstellen und anschalten, sich die Festplatten in einer der ungünstigen Positionen befinden und im günstigen Fall, so die Lebensdauer stark verringert wird.
Bei Wechselfestplatten ist ein Herausnehmen auf jeden Fall so lange zu vermeiden, wie die Festplatte läuft. Etwas Geduld vor dem Herausnehmen zahlt sich aus.
Towergehäuse sollten so aufgestellt werden, dass man nicht versehentlich gegen das Gehäuse tritt.
Notebooks sollte man immer abschalten, bevor man sie bewegt.
Formatieren, ist immer risikoreich, besonders, wenn keine Sicherheitsabfrage vorhanden ist oder diese nicht sorgfältig gelesen wird.
Zu schnelles Abschalten ist ein großer Risikofaktor. Cache Funktionen und Programme schreiben die Daten erst in einen Zwischenspeicher und danach erst zurück. Wird nicht ordnungsgemäß beendet, können so erhebliche Datenverluste entstehen.
Komprimierung sollte niemals für Bootlaufwerke angewendet werden, weil damit fast alle Möglichkeiten der Datenrettung unmöglich werden.
